Denmark records wettest year in weather history
The past twelve months have become Denmark’s wettest measured period with 1086 mm of rain, just surpassing the previous record from August 2006. TV 2 Weather and the Danish Meteorological Institute confirm that June, characterized by heavy showers, significantly contributed to the record, with 61.9 mm already measured by mid-month. The climate normal for June rainfall, based on the 1991-2020 period, is around 64.3 mm. Recent weather records have been frequent since the beginning of the year, including the wettest April since 1874. While many records are attributed to persistent climate change, DMI attributes the latest records to coincidences. Additionally, the spring months of March, April, and May were the warmest ever, with an average temperature of 9.1 degrees, 1.8 degrees above normal.
