No Compensation for Former Boarding School Students
Former students of Gravenshoved Boarding School, who reported experiences of sexual abuse, violence, and force-feeding, will not receive compensation, as the municipal attorney found no legal basis for it. Although an apology was issued last January by Aalborg’s ex-mayor, Thomas Kastrup-Larsen, following the third part of an investigative report, legal proceedings are necessary now, as revealed by lawyer Kirsten Moesgaard to TV2 Nord. The school, which was run by Aalborg Municipality and the former North Jutland County from 1964 to 1991, did not face legal repercussions due to the statute of limitations and, in some cases, actions not considered criminal at the time. The Aalborg Municipality reported the complaints to the police in October 2021, leading to an investigation of about 150 cases from the school, none of which resulted in court proceedings.
