Frederiksen denies EU position speculations

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederikens has reaffirmed that she is not seeking an international role, amidst rumors of her candidacy for a top EU position. While appreciating her former Portuguese counterpart Antonio Costa amid speculations of them both being possible contenders for the EU presidency, Frederiksen refocuses the conversation on the recent subpar EU election results and polling for her government, insisting that such outcomes will not push her to consider other job opportunities. She’s determined to resolve discussions about EU top roles quickly to quell rumors of her leaving Danish politics. Frederiksen has been connected to high-profile jobs, including NATO Secretary-General, but maintains her commitment to Denmark. An EU summit in Brussels will possibly finalize these top positions on June 27-28.
