Defense chief to lead Denmark’s armament
Acting Defense Chief Michael Hyldgaard will soon make decisions regarding Denmark’s military rearmament worth billions, as disclosed by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen during an extended question time in the Folketing. She announced that the government will unveil initiatives on Wednesday to ‘increase Danish defense combat capability.’ These resolutions grant the Defense Chief the authority and funds to make necessary decisions swiftly to bolster Denmark’s defense rapidly. The government has expressed ‘full confidence’ in the Defense Chief’s ability to make vital decisions. Additionally, fewer tenders and more direct purchases will now be allowed in the Defense Ministry to speed up the armament process, accepting the greater error risk. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen also highlighted plans to reorganize Defense Ministry’s material and procurement administration (FMI). The government is expected to introduce a defense fund with an allocation of 50 billion kroner on Wednesday.
