Norwegian sees more passengers but faces Boeing strike

Norwegian Air has seen an increase in passenger numbers, but a strike by Boeing is driving up short-term costs, the airline reported. In September, almost 2.3 million passengers chose Norwegian, an 11 percent increase from the same month last year. CEO Geir Karlsen expressed satisfaction with the passenger growth but is concerned about the Boeing strike causing delivery delays of new aircraft, impacting next year’s summer program and raising expenses. To manage the costs, Norwegian is taking measures like extending aircraft leasing agreements. In mid-September, approximately 30,000 Boeing employees in the US went on strike after a majority rejected a contract proposal. Despite the challenges, Norwegian still managed to carry a total of 2.6 million passengers across its companies in September. Sydbank’s head of equity analysis, Jacob Pedersen, noted that the Scandinavian market for air travel is strong, reflecting positively on profitability forecasts.
