
Queen Mary to attend Pope Francis’ funeral
Queen Mary will participate in Pope Francis’ funeral on Saturday, April 26th, according to a royal house Instagram post. The ceremony will be held in front of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City at 10 a.m. Pope Francis passed away from a stroke and subsequent cardiac arrest on the morning of Easter Monday, at the age of 88. World leaders, including US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Argentine President Javier Milei, will attend the funeral alongside European royalty. The Danish royal house expressed condolences on Instagram, and King Frederik recalled positive memories from their 2018 audience with the pope. After the ceremony, Pope Francis’ casket will be moved to the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, where he wished to be buried.
