Netanyahu to boost embassy security after US shooting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced enhanced security at Israeli embassies worldwide following a shooting at the Jewish museum in Washington D.C., where two embassy employees were killed. Describing the attack as shocking and antisemitic, Netanyahu stated, “We witness the terrible price of antisemitism and incitement against Israel.” A suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, was arrested, having allegedly shouted “Free Palestine” during police custody. Netanyahu expressed sorrow for the victims, calling it an “abominable antisemitic murder.” Israeli President Isaac Herzog described the act as hate-driven on social media, stating it claimed the lives of young embassy staff. The incident coincides with heightened international focus on the Gaza conflict, where calls for increased humanitarian aid are emphasized amid warnings of a critical situation.
