29-year-old admits attempted murder at train station
A 29-year-old man was sentenced to placement in a psychiatric ward for pushing a 19-year-old woman in front of a train at Nørreport Station last December. He was also deported from Denmark and banned from re-entering for 12 years. The Afghan national confessed on Thursday morning, eliminating the need for further evidence. The key evidence was a surveillance video showing him pushing the woman onto the tracks before fleeing. She was rescued by bystanders just before a train arrived. The man, who had blood on him when arrested, was deemed severely psychotic when hospitalized. Treatment improved his condition, yet he was insane at the time of the crime and thus will not serve time in prison. He accepted the psychiatric placement but appealed against the deportation and entry ban.
