Jury To Decide on Emilie Meng Murder Case
A jury of six and three judges will determine the fate of the 32-year-old man charged with the murder of Emilie Meng. An indictment was issued two weeks ago, with the trial set to start in mid-May in the Retten i Næstved. The defendant has chosen to be tried by a jury instead of a single judge with two lay judges. Cases seeking over four years of imprisonment generally involve jurors. The accused faces charges including the murder of Emilie Meng, the rape of a 17-year-old girl, the abduction and abuse of a 13-year-old girl in 2023, and attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl the previous year. He partially admits to the offenses involving the 13-year-old but denies planning the girl’s murder or attempting to hit her with a car. The accused also denies accusations related to the 15-year-old and Emilie Meng. Moreover, he denies possession of a large amount of child pornography.
