Danish musical film selected for Toronto fest
The Danish musical film ‘The End’ has been selected for this year’s Toronto International Film Festival starting on September 5, as announced by Have Kommunikation. Directed by British-American Joshua Oppenheimer, who resides in Copenhagen, the screenplay is co-written with Danish playwright Rasmus Heisterberg. Starring George MacKay, Tilda Swinton, and Michael Shannon, ‘The End’ portrays one of the last families alive luxuriously living in an underground bunker. The arrival of a mysterious young woman causes the son to question their subterranean life. Produced by Danish company Final Cut for Real and producer Signe Byrge Sørensen, who has worked on Oppenheimer’s documentaries and the award-winning Danish animated documentary ‘Flee’. The English-language film’s premiere date in Denmark is yet to be announced. The festival, one of the world’s largest, is now in its 49th year, and recently, more Danish films have been featured.
