Frederiksen expects sanctions on Israel: Limit reached
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen criticizes Israel’s conduct in war, stating the situation in Gaza is unacceptable due to blocked humanitarian aid. While acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas, Frederiksen argues it is indefensible to use humanitarian aid as a war tactic. She advocates for unobstructed access to aid for Gaza’s civilians and suggests heightened EU sanctions against Israel. Existing sanctions target settlements and individuals, but they could expand. Countries like Norway, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have already imposed sanctions on Israeli ministers for violations of international law in Palestine. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen supports EU sanctions, emphasizing the need for Israel to change its course.
