ASAP Rocky acquitted in 2021 shooting case

Rapper ASAP Rocky, real name Rakim Meyers, has been acquitted by a Los Angeles jury for a shooting incident that occurred in 2021. He faced a potential 24-year prison sentence if convicted. On November 6, 2021, Meyers was accused of firing a pistol at a former friend and collaborator near a Hollywood hotel. The charges included two counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon. The defense claimed the firearm was a prop gun firing blanks and that the former friend was the aggressor. During the trial, neither party could produce the alleged weapon. Meyers has enjoyed significant success in the music industry, topping the Billboard 200 with his debut album and receiving three Grammy nominations.
