Floor fitter conviction reduced
The Supreme Court has reduced the sentence for a flooring company director who was initially fined 790,000 kroner and sentenced to a year in conditional prison with 200 hours of community service, for a misdemeanour related to a COVID-19 aid package. Her offense was reclassified from a criminal code breach to a special law violation. As a result, her fine was lowered to 325,000 kroner. The director made a mistake while applying for a pandemic relief loan, not disclosing a prior fine for a VAT offense. She has completed 45 of her 200 community service hours. The Supreme Court’s decision now also requires the state to pay her legal fees. This unique case was escalated to the highest court with special permission.
