Culture pass grants access to youth in need
The SVM government and parties Green Left, Green-Left Alliance, Social Liberals, and Alternative reached an agreement on a cultural pass for 43,000 disadvantaged young Danes. They will receive a digital card with 2,000 DKK for cultural activities like sports and concerts. Cultural Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt anticipates the initiative will foster better lives through community engagement in culture and sports. The program will run until 2026, with the youth able to utilize the funds starting in summer 2025. A separate trial will create up to 15 extended programs using culture and sports to aid youth employment and wellness. The Conservative Party doubts the pass’s effectiveness, stressing its cost. The government has earmarked 140 million DKK for the scheme in the annual budget.
