Finance Ministry increases financial headroom

A new upward revision of the economic room for manoeuvre towards 2030 is underway, Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen announced in an interview with Børsen on Tuesday. According to media reports, there will be an upward adjustment of around three to four billion kroner. The upward revision comes after the room for manoeuvre in May was revised upwards by DKK 16 billion to DKK 64 billion. The Finance Minister did not tell Børsen how big the upward revision will be this time, but only confirmed that it will be smaller than the last revision. The room for manoeuvre refers to how much how much can be spent on tax cuts or welfare. Wammen explains, among other things, the new upward adjustment with a university reform that stands to shorten certain master’s programmes. “And in addition, we also see that structural employment is increasing. This is largely because there is a greater influx of foreign labour than had been predicted,” Wammen told Børsen. /ritzau/
