Finland – Europol
In what is being called a ’significant victory against dark web criminals,’ Finland’s Customs Authority, collaborating with other police forces, has successfully stopped the Piilopuoti dark web marketplace, Europol says on its website.
According to the announcement, large quantities of drugs and other ’illegal commodities’ were sold in large quantities across the Finnish-language platform. Finnish authorities worked closely with German, Lithuanian and the Europol Cybercrime Centre to crack the Tor platform and, according to the Helsinki Times website, seize the organisation’s web server. ”The investigation is still ongoing as law enforcement worldwide work together to identify the sellers and users on the platform,” Europol said. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further details have been available. /ritzau/
