First female Major General in DK
As the first woman in Denmark, 57-year-old Jette Albinus has been appointed major general in the Danish Army. It is the Army’s third-highest rank, according to the Ministry of Defence on its website. On 15 August, she will take up the position as commander of the Danish-led NATO headquarters Multinational Division North in Latvia. The headquarters supports the Baltic countries’ national defence planning, trains Baltic soldiers and coordinates military activities in the region. “Major General Jette Albinus is a skilled and experienced officer who, with a solid operational career, is a good choice to continue the chief position at the headquarters in Latvia,” Defence Chief Gen. Flemming Lentfer told the Armed Forces’ website. The appointment takes place in connection with a major reshuffle at the top of the Armed Forces. /ritzau/
