France – airports

Six airports in France were evacuated on Wednesday after authorities received emails threatening attacks. The evacuated airports are located in Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse and Beauvais near Paris.  The authorities are investigating whether these are real threats, AFP says. French authorities evacuated the Palace of Versailles outside Paris on Saturday. At the same time, the Louvre was closed for security reasons. France is deploying up to 7,000 troops after an Islamist knife attack on a school on Friday that killed a teacher and wounded two other people fatally. The knife attack happened Friday morning at Gambetta High School in the northern French city of Arras, where a teacher was stabbed to death and 2 others were injured. Ten people are in police custody in connection with Friday’s incidents. /ritzau/
