Gaza – Al-Quds
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, Israeli authorities have warned that the al-Quds hospital in the Gaza Strip must be evacuated immediately, according to the organisation in a post on Facebook. According to the Red Crescent, there have been attacks 50 metres from the hospital on Sunday morning. A spokesman for Israel’s military declined to comment on the announcement during a press briefing on Sunday, Reuters wrote.
In Geneva, where the World Health Organisation (WHO) is headquartered, Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called the announcement “deeply worrying”. “We repeat – it is impossible to evacuate hospitals full of patients without endangering their lives,” he wrote on X. Since the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, Israel has repeatedly asked that the al-Quds hospital be evacuated. The Palestinian Red Crescent has previously said it is not possible to move the sick and wounded. The hospital is located in the area of Tel al-Hawa, about ten kilometres from the Gaza Strip’s northern border. /ritzau/
