Gaza – ceasefire

An agreement has been reached to extend the current ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas movement by two days, the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman announced Monday in a message on social media X. “The State of Qatar, as part of the ongoing mediation, announces that an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian ceasefire for another two days in the Gaza Strip,” spokesman Majed al-Ansari said in a statement. He did not immediately provide further details of the deal. Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has mediated between Israel and Hamas. In Gaza, Hamas confirms that an agreement is in place. “These are the same conditions as in the previous ceasefire,” a Hamas source told Reuters news agency. /ritzau/
