Gaza – hospitals

Three hospitals in the Gaza Strip are out of service due to fuel shortages, Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said Tuesday at a press conference in the West Bank. There is no more fuel to keep the generators running that are needed for hospitals to have power. Al-Kaila calls for a corridor to be established so that the wounded and sick can receive treatment in Egypt. Shortly before, the World Health Organization (WHO) had announced that it was still unable to deliver fuel and supplies of medicines and other health equipment in the northern Gaza Strip. This is due to a lack of security guarantees. UN Secretary-General António Guterres told a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday that the aid entering the Gaza Strip was “a drop of aid in a sea of needs”. Since Saturday, according to the UN, 54 trucks full of aid have been sent into the Gaza Strip. /ritzau/Reuters/
