Gaza – hostages
Fourteen Israeli hostages and three hostages of a different nationality have been handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza on day three of a ceasefire, Israel’s army, IDF, said Sunday, according to AFP. “Based on the information received from the Red Cross, 14 Israeli hostages and three foreign hostages have been transferred to the Red Cross,” the army said in a statement. However, there are conflicting reports about the nationality of the hostages. The Palestinian militant movement Hamas thus confirms that 17 hostages have been handed over to the Red Cross. But according to Hamas, there are 13 Israeli hostages, one Russian hostage and three Thai hostages. The Israeli media Haaretz reported that there were nine children among the 17 hostages and that families of the hostages headed to hospitals to receive the released family members. /ritzau/
