During the Middle East conflict between Israel and Hamas, anti-Semitism in Germany has increased dramatically, leading German Jews to call for better protection. “We demand more than just declarations of intent, we demand more than declarations of solidarity,” Daniel Botmann, chairman of the Jewish Central Council of Germany, said during a demonstration in Berlin. The demonstration is a demonstration of solidarity for Israel. Nancy Faeser, Germany’s interior minister, said Friday that police had so far recorded 1,100 hate crimes related to the conflict in the Middle East. /ritzau/dpa/
