Government reshuffle: new Liberal ministers appointed
The newly elected chairman of the Liberal Party, Troels Lund Poulsen, Thursday implemented an expected reshuffle of Liberal posts in the government. The reshuffle involved dismissal of two ministers replacing them with new people.
Most noticeable was the appointment of entrepreneur and TV personality Mia Wagner who will be Minister for Digitization and Equal rights. Wagner became widely known in Denmark after several season’s appearance in the DR show “The Dragon’s Den” (Løvens Hule). She replaces Marie Bjerre.
Expected, however, was the appointment of South Denmark’s Regional Mayor Stephanie Lose who was Lund Poulsen’s “wing woman” during former chairman Jakob Ellemann-Jensen’s sick leave. Lose will take over the Ministry of Economic Affairs after Lund Poulsen who held both the Defence Ministry and The Economic Affairs Ministry.
Liberal Party Spokesman Morten Dahlin was given the responsibility for three resort areas: Minister for Cities and Rural Districts, Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs and Minister for Nordic Cooperation. He replaces Louise Schack Elholm. A few days’ ago, Dahlin started an 11-week parental leave, but has given up the leave for his new post.
The three new Liberal Party ministers were presented to the Queen by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen Thursday. She declared she was “very, very happy” with the new team, which she was looking forward to working with. She also praised the new player in Danish politics, businesswoman Mia Wagner. “I am sure that we are dealing here with three ministers who are both skilled in their respective fields and will work hard to make Denmark a better country to live in,” she said. Frederiksen also thanks the two outgoing ministers, Louise Schack Elholm and Marie Bjerre, for their efforts. /ritzau/
