Govt. proposes transport deductions

The government proposes a so-called “overall highway principle” and higher transport deductions in the 2024 budget, Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Affairs Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen told Ritzau. “We will prioritise new initiatives to make it easier to travel in rural areas. Both in relation to sailing with ferries and also tax relief for Danes who commute to and from work,” Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said. Later this week, the government will present a comprehensive bid for a budget Bill for 2024. Part of the proposal is to increase the transport allowance by DKK 100 million annually for the next four years and to introduce an “overall highway principle ” to make it cheaper to sail by ferry in Denmark. The overall highway principle will cost DKK 51 million annually, with funding set aside for the next four years. /ritzau/
