Greece election

Everything points to Greece going into a second round of voting at the end of June, as no party managed to secure an absolute majority in Sunday’s elections. The ruling conservative New Democracy party, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, came close with 40.8 percent of the vote. But this was five seats short of securing a majority of the 300 seats in parliament. As the winner of the election, Mitsotakis has three days to explore the possibility of forming a majority government. But the three main parties in the elections already indicated on Monday that they are not interested in participating in a coalition government. “There is no possibility of a coalition. I will deliver my mandate back today,” Mitsotakis said on Monday. /ritzau/
