Historically broad budget for next year in place

A budget agreement for 2024 has fallen into place with the support of all parties except the Red-Green Alliance, which left the negotiations at the weekend. It is thus the broadest budget in several decades. The agreement will be presented at a short press conference at 10:30 at the Ministry of Finance, the ministry said in a press release on Monday morning.
Billions of kroner have been set aside for, among other things, welfare, psychiatry, green transition, education and the courts.  In advance, the government had set aside a reserve of DKK 500 million to negotiate. But that figure is expected to rise, as the government has probably stretched itself to get as broad an agreement as possible. At the same time, the government will be aware that inflation should be held at a short leash. Although by far the worst of the price increases seems to be over, the government highlighted precisely that aspect when the proposal was presented in August. “Even though there is more money in the Treasury and inflation is coming down, it is still with a prudent and responsible approach that we approach things,” Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen said at the time. /ritzau/
