Home-owners flood damage record

Homeowners in Denmark have spent the past two months getting an overview of the damage that the storm surge in October inflicted on their homes. So far, 3,300 reports have been received by the Nature Damage Base from people seeking compensation from the storm surge scheme. On Thursday, the deadline for reporting the damage expires for most people, according to the Danish Nature Damage Council in a press release. “There has been quite a lot of total damage, and it promises to be the most expensive storm surge in the history of the scheme,” says Poul Jensen, head of the Nature Damage Council’s secretariat. So far, the estimate of the total amount of damages is approximately DKK 1.2 billion. /ritzau/
