Human Rights Court: Dane violated by prison guards
A man from Aarhus has had his human rights violated pursuant to Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which deals with the prohibition of torture, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg ruled Tuesday. The man, born in 1992, was pepper sprayed by two prison guards in April 2017 while he was in an observation cell. A unanimous human rights court believes that the violation took place both in the form of unnecessary use of force and because of an incomplete investigation of the case afterwards. The Court attaches particular importance to the fact that the legality of the act was not addressed in the investigation of the case. The question whether it was necessary to use pepper spray was also considered unanswered. /ritzau/
