The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday rejected legalising same-sex marriages. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud explained that it must be up to the Indian Parliament to make such decisions. “It is the domain of Parliament and the legislature to determine the law on marriages,” the chief justice said. At the same time, he said that among the five Supreme Court justices there has been both “agreement and disagreement about how far we should go”. /ritzau/
