A new film deal for 2024-27 secures a beleaguered film industry more money through the cultural contributions of streaming services. At the same time, worrying targets are being set. Of course, filmmakers must have goals to aim for and a fixed framework to work within, but care must be taken that the framework does not become a straitjacket.
