At least 103 people were killed in explosions on Wednesday at a ceremony in Iran on the anniversary of the death of senior General Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian state media reported according to AFP. Soleimanis was killed by a drone while visiting Iraq on January 3, 2020. The remembrance ceremony for the former leader of the elite Revolutionary Guard force Quds was held at his gravesite in the city of Kerman. An Iranian official told state media that the explosions on Wednesday were a “terrorist attack”. Several hundred people turned out for the ceremony. The January 3, 2020 drone attack on Soleimani took place near Baghdad’s airport. The senior military leader was one of the most powerful men in Iran. /ritzau/
