Iran – U.S.

Five released Americans took off Monday afternoon from the Iranian capital, Tehran, as part of a prisoner exchange, according to a senior U.S. official, the AP and Reuters reported. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because the prisoner exchange was still being carried out. The five U.S. citizens will initially be flown to Qatar’s capital, Doha and then flown on to the United States. It was reported earlier on Monday that the U.S. and Iran had reached an agreement to release five prisoners each. The agreement also means that frozen Iranian assets totalling DKK 42 billion will be made available to Iran. /ritzau/
