Ireland – stabbing
Protesters have set fire to a police car and clashed with police in Dublin Thursday night. This comes after five people were injured in a stabbing earlier Thursday in central Dublin. Three of them are children, including a seriously injured five-year-old girl. Anger has apparently spread among protesters following rumours that the perpetrator is a foreigner, AFP reported. Police Chief Drew Harris told RTE television that a group of “insane hooligans driven by a far-right ideology” were behind the violence. He is asking Dublin residents to “go home” and not believe rumours on social media. In addition to the five-year-old girl, an adult woman was also seriously injured in the knife attack. The other three are being treated for less serious injuries, police said. Among them are another six-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy./ritzau/
