Israel recalls ambassador from Spain
Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced on X Thursday he was recalling Israel’s ambassador to Spain. The reason for the move is that the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has made remarks questioning the legality of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. According to AFP, the Israeli ambassador to Spain was recalled after Pedro Sánchez said in an interview that he has serious doubts about the legality of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. In an interview Thursday on Spanish television, Pedro Sánchez said the world must tell Israel that “it has to base its actions on international humanitarian law”. He believes that the pictures that have been published and the increasing number of people dying – especially children – make him doubt whether the law is being respected, according to AFP. /ritzau/
