Italian authorities are still investigating what went wrong when a bus crashed near the city of Venice, killing 21 people, according to Reuters. “We suspect that the driver may have fallen ill,” Luca Zaja, governor of the Veneto region, told Italian media Rai News. The suspicion is based on witness statements, surveillance material and further clues, he said. At least 21 people, including several children, were killed on Tuesday night when a bus crashed over a motorway bridge in the northern Italian city of Mestre near Venice. A large number of people were injured in the accident. The bus came from the historic centre of Venice and was heading towards a campsite. Among the dead were nine Ukrainian nationals, four Romanian, three German, two Portuguese, one Croatian, one South African and the Italian driver, Zaja said./ritzau/
