Authorities in the province of Ravenna in northern Italy Thursday began evacuating people from several towns threatened by flooding after torrential rain, according to AFP. Buses have been sent to Villanova, Filetto and Roncalceci after the river Lamone burst its banks. In total, around 20 rivers and streams have burst their banks in recent days, causing severe flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region. More than 10,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in the region, and over 24 towns have been evacuated completely. Hundreds of landslides have also been reported. At least 11 people have died in the region as a result of the floods and many are missing. /ritzau/AFP/DPA/
