King Frederik to hold speech after proclamation
Shortly after the succession has been proclaimed on Sunday, King Frederik X will speak from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace, according to the official programme for the day published by the royal family on Monday evening. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, the king will step out onto the balcony, after which Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will proclaim the succession. Soon after, the King will hold a speech and concludes with the motto he has chosen for his reign. The motto is intended to set the framework for his reign. For Queen Margrethe, it was only in the days when her father – Frederik IX – was dying that she found her own motto. It reads “God’s help, the love of the people, Denmark’s strength”.
