Løkke on possible Prigozhin death: We can feel no relief
The challenges with Russia and the Wagner Group are not borne by individuals. Therefore, they will not disappear even if it is true that Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has died in a plane crash, according to Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen at a press conference Thursday in connection with a government seminar. “I don’t think we can feel any relief. It’s not like we can think that he was gone and then that problem is gone. The problem is there, and it’s systemic,” he said.
Russian authorities have confirmed that the Wagner leader was on board a plane that crashed between Moscow and Saint Petersburg on Wednesday night. At the press conference, Lars Løkke Rasmussen also emphasized that information is still scarce. “It is so obviously a new development that you do not just fall out of windows or down stairs,” says Løkke. It is not yet known what happened to the plane that Prigozhin was allegedly on board./ritzau/
