Maersk stops using Red Sea
- Maersk – Red Sea: is postponing all voyages through the Red Sea indefinitely, the Danish shipping company wrote in a press release on Tuesday. The decision comes after several attacks on the company’s ships in the Red Sea. Most recently, the cargo ship Maersk Hangzhou was attacked on December 30. /ritzau/
- Maersk – container search: Mærsk is recalling the salvage vessel Assister, which has been used to search for containers that a Maersk ship lost on December 22, the company told TV2 Nord. “The calculations conclude with a very high probability that floating containers from the accident site would have washed ashore a long time ago,” Maersk said. “Therefore, we have now recalled the recovery vessel we have deployed since December 25 to locate floating containers.” Maersk will instead try to locate containers on the seabed. Vessels are on the way, TV2 Nord says. On December 22, a Maersk ship lost 46 containers in the sea off North Jutland. Four of them have drifted ashore. Maersk will be assisted by two survey vessels to locate and collect the containers, Mæresk Fleet Operations Manager Kristian Brauner said on Friday. /ritzau/
