Main issues in the Government’s law programme

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen gave her speech at the opening of the Folketing which also means that the government presents the legislative programme for the coming parliamentary year. The following are a few main points:

  • Health: A total of 15 bills in the healthcare area.
  • Children and education: The focus of the Prime Minister’s speech at the opening of the Danish Parliament was the Danish public school. The school must be set free. The government’s legislative programme states that the government will focus on  special education and fewer pupils in classes.
  • Environment: Water works struggle with pesticide residues in drinking water. This is why the government is now promising to protect the areas around water wells from further spraying.
  • Employment: The government will introduce a new 37-hour work obligation for citizens in the cash benefit system with an integration need.
  • Culture: The government will implement adjustments to media support to strengthen local and regional news media.
  • Integration: As part of the solution to the problem of labour shortages, the government will grant the right of continued residence to certain foreigners who train in areas where there is precisely a shortage of labour.
