More professions may participate in salary increases

Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen is opening the way for professional groups other than the four selected to share in the three billion kroner for salary increases. The government has already identified four professional groups that should receive a salary increase. They are social and health assistants, educators, nurses and prison guards. “This is where we will make an extra effort,” he said on his way to a meeting ahead of tripartite talks. “We have not said that other groups cannot enter, but that is our starting point.” The social partners can change the government’s approach to negotiations. “We are now preparing the ground for negotiations and what the final model will look like, we will only know when we have reached agreement,” Wammen said. The Government has said that with the pay promise, it will look after those who look after Denmark./ritzau
