North Korea fired two cruise missiles on Saturday, as part of a “simulated tactical nuclear attack” to remind its enemies that the risk of nuclear war is real, according to the state-controlled North Korean news agency KCNA on Sunday. “A launch exercise as part of a simulated tactical nuclear attack was conducted at dawn on September 2 to warn enemies of the real danger of nuclear war,” KCNA said. The exercise was conducted in response to military exercises held in recent months with the participation of soldiers, fighter jets and naval vessels from both the United States and South Korea, KCNA said. “Two long-range strategic cruise missiles equipped with fake nuclear warheads were fired.” The missiles were fired from North Korea’s west coast and landed in the Yellow Sea. /ritzau/AFP/
