Nagorno-Karabakh

There were explosions in Nagorno-Karabakh on Tuesday and at least 25 were killed when Azerbaijan launched what it called “anti-terrorist operations” in the disputed enclave. Gegham Stepanyan, human rights ombudsman for the local administration, said on social media that 25 people had been killed. Two of them civilians. These are figures provided from the morgue in Stepanakert, which is the largest city in Nagorno-Karabakh. There are at least 138 wounded, including 29 civilians, Stepanyan said. The Azerbaijan military launched a broad military operation in the disputed territory on Tuesday morning to punish groups accused of breaking ceasefires and to restore “constitutional order” in the area. Azerbaijan demands “a complete withdrawal” of Armenian forces from the region. /ritzau/AFP/
