If the United States paves the way for the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, the Turkish parliament will approve Sweden’s NATO application, Turkey’s President Erdogan said on Tuesday, according to Turkish media. Erdogan said about two weeks ago that U.S. President Biden has linked the sale of F-16 fighter jets and the NATO application and that the approach is “surprising” Turkey. At the NATO summit in Vilnius in July, an agreement was reached between Turkey, Sweden and NATO that Turkey would approve the admission of Sweden to the military alliance “as soon as possible”.
