New poll shows strong support for more climate action
Seventy-two percent of Danes – almost three out of four – believe that politicians should do more to tackle climate change, according to a new poll conducted by Voxmeter for the Region of Southern Denmark. The findings will be published in the run-up to this year’s Climate People’s Meeting in Middelfart, which begins on 31 August, daily Information reports. The survey, which was conducted in June among 2,000 representatively selected Danes, indicates that the climate threat is increasingly preoccupying the population. For years, Danes have answered similar questions asked by Concito’s Climate Barometer. Here, 48% in 2020 and 51% in 2022 said parties should do more to reduce climate change. “With more than 70% support now, the Danes clearly want political courage and decisiveness when it comes to tackling climate change,” Charlotte Louise Jensen, a behavioral analyst at Concito, told Information. /ritzau/
