New poll: SocDems face top tax beating from voters
The Social Democrats are on a collision course with their own voters on the issue of lower top taxes. In a new poll conducted by Kantar Gallup for Fagbladet 3F, 22% of Social Democratic voters say they are less likely to vote for the party if the government lowers the top tax. When Mette Frederiksen and the Social Democrats formed a government with the Liberals and Moderates in December, it was written into the government foundation that the top tax rate must be reduced. Specifically, the government wants to halve the top tax rate from the current rate of 15% to 7.5% and at the same time raise the top tax threshold for high-paid Danes. However, the plans have been met with great opposition from the Social Democrats’ own support base and the financially distressed municipalities and regions./Fagbladet 3F/
