Children and young people under the age of 16 are no longer able to legally buy energy drinks in Norwegian supermarkets, a Parliamentary majority has decided, according to NTB. In addition, a number of parties have agreed on a ban on marketing unhealthy food and drink aimed at children and young people under the age of 18. The new bans are the result of a public health report in Norway. The Labour Party’s Cecilie Myrseth describes the measures as good and necessary. “The amount of advertising that children and young people are exposed to affects eating habits and health – and more and more children are affected by obesity. So we need to take action where we can to protect and prevent,” she said. In Denmark, there is no age limit for the sale of energy drinks.
