Norway – defence budget

The Norwegian government proposes to increase the defence budget by NOK 15 billion by 2024, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre from the Labour Party told daily VG. “We are living in a time of destiny in Europe. Russia’s war of aggression in Europe is a very serious change in our security circumstances,” he said. By increasing the budget, the goal is to move closer to the NATO defence alliance’s goal of spending two percent of gross domestic product on defence. /ritzau/
