The global economy is projected to experience a slight deceleration in growth next year, according to the OECD’s Economic Outlook, a forecast for the world economy presented on Wednesday morning. The OECD anticipates a global growth rate of 2.7 percent in 2024, down from the expected 2.9 percent this year. The AFP news agency reports that the OECD cites the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza as a source of uncertainty in global economic trends. The OECD warned in their presentation: “Should the conflict escalate and spread throughout the region, the risk of growth slowing and inflation rising significantly increases.” While growth is predicted to slow by 0.2 percentage points from 2023 to 2024, the global economy is expected to slightly rebound in 2025, with the growth rate increasing to 3.0 percent, according to the forecast. /ritzau/
